There is reason to celebrate at Biggleswade Cottage. Last month there was a brand new position that opened up in the Business Department where I work. It was a significant step up and very few new positions are created especially one on this level. I figured I had nothing to lose so I told my boss I was going to apply and I did. I found out there were 66 applicants from both the outside and inside the organization. The 66 were whittled down to 18 to interview. I didn't think I would be called for a second interview. Five were called in for a second interview and I was one of them! I did well on my interview Tuesday but we had to do a skills test and I felt I had totally blown it so I thought... no how...no way am I getting it. I went out in the field Friday afternoon to conduct a training. When I arrived in the office yesterday (Monday) morning there was a message on my voicemail from one of the interviewers. I called and left a message for her and then waited what seemed an eternity (maybe 20 minutes in reality). I got the job! I was shocked beyond belief. I won't start until May 1 because we have to interview for my position and I have to train the person we select. Fortunately I will be in the building next door so it will be easy to visit my replacement and help out as needed. I had so written off me not getting it that mentally I was totally unprepared. I called The Comedian and told him the good news. One of his first comments was, you're going to want to go shopping for clothes aren't you? This position will be much more visible than my current position so I absolutely MUST have some new suits and some really cute pointy toed shoes Yep, I'll be on the prowl for a new wardrobe. Good thing I'm back at the gym so I can get my behind in better shape. I won't be sitting on it nearly as much and it will be seen more. I certainly would like to see less of it!

Congratulations on your new position. I only work two or three days a week but it cramps my style. I have so many things I want to do and so little time. :)
Maybe you will win my contest and have a new pair of pearl earrings to go with those new outfits. I'll probably give more than one pair away anyway. It is so fun to make someone elses day.
