The wonderful thing about living in this big ole valley is that spring comes early. We have a gorgeous scenic drive that is called The Blossom Trail. It is about a 65 mile loop and you can see incredible orchards in full bloom (predominantly peaches, plums, nectarines and almonds) and the backdrop for the scenery are the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Very beautiful! The bad thing about living in this big ole valley is that summer comes early and stays late and it gets V-E-R-Y HOT, ugh. I was up and out in the yard by 8 this morning and worked until 4 this afternoon. I cleaned off the front entry, planted some fresh annuals in some pots and put out a little bunny.
I'm sorry the lighting isn't very good. I need to take a picture when the sun has gone over to the other side of the house. I'm working on this whole picture taking thing! (Boy, could I use a few lessons from Pioneer Woman!)

After being fairly satisfied with the progress out front, my attention was drawn to the backyard and the pond. Oh my aching back!!! I dug and planted and put in stepping stones. Planted some more. Moved more rocks. Shoveled mulch and guess what? We're almost there. Almost happy with how it looks...but not quite. Tomorrow we will move a few more plants (one of my really beautiful rose bushes is blocking a sprinkler for the pond area) and lay out more mulch. I hope to get some decent pictures tomorrow and load them by tomorrow night.
Here are a couple pics of the dining room with a few Easter decorations. Below is a vignette on the entry table. You can't see it in this picture but the cloche with the nest under it is sitting on a book called Feather Your Nest.
So dear readers (or maybe I should say reader...as far as I know Kimmy, you're my only reader, lol). Spring has definitely sprung at Biggleswade Cottage. The plan for next weekend is to repaint the patio furniture that was giving to us by The Comedian's parents and get the patio ready for Easter. We will have Easter dinner at our house and an Easter Egg hunt for our grandson in the backyard. I sure hope it is as beautiful a day as it was today. Gotta love springtime in the valley!

Laurie, I completely understand your blogging dilemmas. I guess I either don't lead a very exciting life or it could be the fact that I'm not much of a writer. Or both. :)
I really enjoy seeing how it is to live on the other side of the country though! And I enjoy your pictures and your decorating, so if even just for me, keep it up girl! For now I'll live vicariously through you, knowing you're enjoying sunshine, warmth, and the beauty of spring.
Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures...you made our day today!
Have a blessed day!

I thought I'd say Hi. I'm about in the same boat as you are. Mid life with kids and grandkids living with us. I'm new to the blogging thing too. I'm mostly posting because I'm Kim too. So now all your posts are from people with K names. I found you on Kari and Kijsa's site.
P.S. I'm so jealous of the sunshine and warm weather you are having. I can't even think about planting yet unless I want everything to freeze.
Welcome to blogworld! Your entry is so welcoming. I've been blogging for almost a year and I love it. Hope you enjoy it too.
Have a great day.
Blanca
